I had a chance to check these tv's out at CES and the picture quality and realism was truly amazing.  Imagine watching Avatar but now dial up the sharpness and crispness with brighter color. The sample units that we checked out in Vegas had these pretty cool 3d glasses that used a IR reciever that was built into the tv, sorta like a Nintendo wii bar - which communicated to the glasses which side (left or ride) to shutter close.

The sales rep said that broadcasting and blu-rays will be released in a few months making this technology ready to use when the units are shipped.
