1. Wine in Restaurants – Wine at restaurants are usually marked up at least 100 to 200% more than the retail price than the bottle and over 300 to 400% markup if you buy wine by the glass! Trymydeals recommends you bring your own wine and pay the corkage fee instead.


2. Pre-Cut Fruits & Vegetables – Seriously are you that lazy that you want to pay 5 times more for fruit that is pre-cut and do you really think the hands and area where that fruit has been cut is cleaner than your kitchen? Yes, we thought so..

 
3. Popcorn – A bucket of popcorn will cost on average more than a filet mignon per pound. If you must get popcorn, ask for the kid’s meal which usually comes with a small bag of popcorn, small drink and snack size candy for $5.50 at AMC. AMC and Edwards also allow you to bring in food, so if you really want to impress your date, bring chili cheese fries from your local hamburger joint.

4. Products at Eye Level Grocery Store & Lost Leaders – Companies obtain large fee to get a the prime real estate shelf space that are at eye level, thus Products with the highest markup reside here. So just stick to the lost leaders that are advertised in their ads.

5. Brand-Name Medication - "A general rule of thumb is that you'll pay 30 to 40% more for name brand medication versus generics." What we recommend is to print out a list of the 500 or so generics that Target or Wal-mart have for $5 bucks and bring it to your doctor. Have him choose one of

6. Bottled Water - "According to 'Message in a Bottle' by Charles Fishman, bottled water can cost 10,000 times more than tap water -- about $10 per gallon for high-end brands." If you really need Arrowhead bottled water, buy a glass jar and pour your own Arrowhead at home.

7. Produce at Organic Groceries - "You'll pay 30 to 50% more for organic produce -- sometimes more if something is not in season." So don’t waste your money in produce that cost as much as a steak.
